I thought I'd share the vacation I went on last week. I gave up going to Disneyland for this trip, so I had high expectations. I'm happy to say it exceded them.<br /><br />Last Sunday, I hooked up to my little <a href="mailto:T@b">T@b</a> and hit the road, <div align="center"><div><div><div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5498328193404568770" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-5Wpht7i8XBYhvEUanDUo9nR2eUeHz_x7Y0voAj00XgdoiWaQdtzZIYWu8qajzS8kTqCRSrR5gSRzXYiS3eDLrztEAVzOElkVGx0A3J8UeB63ccrCNp6Dku4fDiSMFCHGw7Tj0YXr5V8/s320/tab.JPG" />and headed to an RV park north of Conroe. <div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5498330926281549874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSRhMATjz3KOr6fu8vjLSf8wRjufC_IYAdmU3I3sEDfpiseIoHRKc71BYXWmnBM5XT8Xsas4AEfGUAsrPcJdF535cTVWgsAceW0FqvGQ05sgLcFkqKiES9GiVXfwFgyvdEChsysHtWuhc/s320/houston8.jpg" /></div><div>I've always wanted to go to a painting convention and this was the year that I finally got my courage. The best thing I compare it to is a basketball player getting to take lessons from Michael Jordan, so it was a little intimidating .</div><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 233px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5498330934424411186" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPgKSjIIQEwFw4vtWlry6JnMA1sVDV6cRZ4g8skuyJKMwzvuzgYdH2uEUH3sQdCvXf75F2cldyQ_lQQlq29qCMqos2iuJBX2wgRP0uP3DYFGCVZppoRRTm5qOqaJGik7-aPTJ2tgnY_YM/s320/houston9.JPG" /></div><div>Once I walked through the doors, I was in Heaven. We had no clue what it would bring, and really thought it would be out of my price range. Surprisingly there was only one other bidder , so we performed a little happy dance when I was the high bidder. Then we realized why, nobody wanted to have to load it. This sucker is heavy! Luckily I brought my muscle to help me, otherwise known as Mom and Dad. It turned out it's not nearly as heavy as we thought.<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428847840684517378" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1_zXnCvqUKqW6-Ojp-mW1O-jnuqRC2jSYAZ_9JzA2pZWRABcWmrdo6O-LzKiH9rM5JcS8D1aB1IHhzpewvLil7d3WBNSafZoZH7zMFROxBqMljGqGcLZz_PhEvvlWXTZrww4hkq530Po/s320/IMG_2305.JPG" /><br /><div><div><div><div><div>The former owner used it as a work table, but I'm going to use it as a checkout counter until it sells. I think it would make a beautiful bar. Usually I paint all the furniture I buy to refinish, but I think my Dad would have cried real tears if I had done that with this piece. The top is a solid slab of pine, 2 1/2 inches by 8 foot 4 inches. The ends are also slabs. I pulled out my favorite stain, Early American and went to town. While I was working, my Dad kept reenacting bar scenes from old Western movies. I think the fumes from the stain were getting to him. So if I can tear him away from it, this will eventually end up in the shop in Wimberley.</div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428846800525700658" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifZW9UMrwx4ZLT_ixbtUtuMF5_Qc2NNzxgDTty5vAL18vHmYmx8UBc5j-eWmEXax2pBjfpZ7HUhDBwIYx4dox_eR_0cBmAGyCt7fFf0Cncn4b5hl5DpcZA2C2vSR-grVywi6IlJ9CHs-k/s320/IMG_2310.JPG" /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428846812726671474" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH2O5D2V-Mwo2ngyEx6jzOhPTCPQcRhxPeYUBeeHuWXaCSA-r6Wmaz4QNhzpaimCKwVxtHmpxWLhh0KD_uv_rtmBwWR8dWu3J-1Rze9enLM1TmmsZg-uldx9VMPdZH3bsnZIm4zBi36Rs/s320/IMG_2311.JPG" /> </div></div></div></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-73229910690835048482010-01-18T10:33:00.000-08:002010-01-18T11:59:22.170-08:00New AdventureThis post has been a work in progress for months. Way back in November I made a huge leap and bought a space/building at a trade days in Wimberly, Texas. It will be open one Saturday a month starting in March. I still don't have good pictures of it, here is one with the prior owners merchandise.... <div><div><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428151818687389938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpv7G1PRncUuW5LJXlXiuCN4nm-VT2mlzwcFFhBlJOoaz3JiAx7b-pZtB3MyoZmHkGL0Yl59kjY_9cADrxzU_bqVrd4ywxzw7Bv-6YI6EMB1q8UH_rMdrro8Ync7EF2rWg6eddd9KskmU/s320/shop.jpg" />Inside is 16x16, and it has a cute little porch. Any ideas on what color to paint it? Right now I'm thinking red or a grey/blue...Help?<br /></p><p>My parents and I love going to auctions. Have you ever been to one? We have a blast. Have you ever been to <a href="http://www.auctionzip.com/">http://www.auctionzip.com/</a>? It gives you a list of upcoming auctions in your area. I found an auction that I thought I could pick up some inventory and displays. It was an estate auction of a couple who had a wood working shop. I hit the jackpot. Midway through the auction, we were in a storage building. One wall was lined with shelves that were loaded with boxes and wood pieces. They wanted to sell everything but the shelves. I said I'd give them $15, and nobody raised my bid. It didn't look like much until we started loading it. I'll have more pictures later, but here is a start. This all was on that wall..<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428162934464368786" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0J5FMeSQjYpEVDmo-p7BjD_kMRC9e5ctvZUwnRXdy0f0X46RaCDvExxITHrY5xotgCD5LYGYWGD76sYI4YqY44KiqWUHFpum9aToGVw-v22yfcoWbbr0YYRnEyDXm7nmfDoUZKIm7baE/s320/IMG_2285.JPG" /></p><p>I bought the wall of junk because I could see some boards that I could use to make shelves. So it was fun opening up all the boxes and seeing what was inside. I like some of these house shapes (this is box 1 of 5 of these houses).</p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428162938661418834" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtQhzABjP-RzLmg_Yb7xmL6vVcowSlJj8Jp-CULab_vdGFZQ98fqzyMNSMzDztjwK9Y-6jXJoCBPVgdizCXRyliK-RxiSGOGxIgS1Ykj8TCOAkqZI-VKB5a3dZbYQ0MnprwHmM_iPQ9GA/s320/IMG_2286.JPG" /></p><p>At this point I think only about a 1/4 of the trailer is emptied. I got overwhelmed and forgot to take picture of the rest.</p><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428162945489336850" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilvkPjTkSIoDPt35VZ1Rjmn7n77XLS0KURLPZ-BvGqjvuiyy5D1_FuH1X42DElILDRkH-lVGE3Y4Q_OGegsU5X2zex_DwHPIujV_i19dBNycwqnk5Zxhi0PyOpxeNPhjo65WsgQ36IyNA/s320/IMG_2287.JPG" /></p><p>I also got another trailer load of displays and lumber. I'm unloaded that one tonight. Just wait until you see my future checkout counter.....<br /></p></div></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-41647196309469873512009-11-18T13:30:00.000-08:002009-11-18T13:32:17.555-08:00Santa's workshop...<div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj33bMwI_DgKvGdZwkprdbHWMNLtLDnFq7RZLEHosRgdk89eVbfXEevwkBKoj_qpDxNTxgec-sqoBJmm3tEx3a7sViURf74fpsadLh0PWRm_HgzhF6Ov4XAlltPB0zpabiTWaVakfI6FRU/s1600/101_0402.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj33bMwI_DgKvGdZwkprdbHWMNLtLDnFq7RZLEHosRgdk89eVbfXEevwkBKoj_qpDxNTxgec-sqoBJmm3tEx3a7sViURf74fpsadLh0PWRm_HgzhF6Ov4XAlltPB0zpabiTWaVakfI6FRU/s320/101_0402.JPG" /></a> </div>This time of year my house is refered to as Santa's workshop, or Santa's sweat shop. Couldn't be because I currently have 56 Santa's in various stages of completion laying all over my living room. Don't even ask what the craft room looks like. I think last year we decided that it looked like Hobby Lobby and my favorite thrift store threw up in there, lol. Sorry but that's the best way to describe it. I have three possibly four shows in a row that start this Saturday. If you're in the area come see me this weekend at <a href="http://hondochamber.com/custom2.asp?pagename=calendar&a=view&eid=12346">Christmas in God's Country </a>in Hondo, Tx. One shower and Bunko down, and a craft show and baby shower to go. So this is just going to be a short post to show off the new and improved candle holders. I tried a new spray paint for the two on the left, and I love it. I think its called gun metal by Rustoleum. The one on the right I did with ivory spray paint, and then dirtied it up with a damp rag and some burnt umber paint. Okay I'm off to do my real job for a bit.<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-origin: padding; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-7432158293406081582009-07-06T07:09:00.000-07:002009-07-06T08:25:10.455-07:00Thrifty Treasures<div><div><div><div><br /><div><a href="http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355356462575608386" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 175px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 175px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTWj85XGU3wZmivTc_7JnrzfW7btYFV8BXfrJpxGY3OT5DJsNXxTtM5Jxwfxuu1_ypOzpLO6sKsp4ukjxvzrge6VkX0r5rhFe8GY2BSlut3IT_IcVawJXNh6Rmc8HK09nDC-l4cMywhqc/s320/SouthernHospThriftyTreasurescopy.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I skipped blogging last week because nothing happened here. It's too hot for anything to happen. Yesterday it was 111 degrees at 7:30 pm! It has been over 100 for three straight weeks, or maybe even a month now, I've lost count. Last week I did nothing, but this coming week is going to be crazy. I am a hostess at a baby shower, have a wedding shower ( no it's not a shotgun wedding, it's two different girls), playing Bunco one night, and if that wasn't enough, last week I decided to sign up to do a craft/art show. </div><br /><br /><br /><div>Here is my loot from my thrift store excursion from last week that will be getting quick makeovers for the show...</div><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355356470136741218" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 226px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCgyAsKohrkbnifEMzuLz6IiYWtoYsVIdEY2KM4RJi5fBNI4dAudWu1HLssq5bbN-2Fz6k2XGABX7g0yH9BIJ30gGj12IdALpuiRdBYr4xvbJKDueY6NbiXPZtXMhXMQlKaB2Qt8tQq6o/s320/102_0090.jpg" border="0" /><br />I picked up the candle holders at a goodwill store, and had the bowls in my stash. The quality, creativity and range of artists that are on etsy is mind boggling. I thought I'd share a few of my favorites. Click on the pictures and go check out these artist's etsy stores.<br /><br /><br />My favorite gift to give at the moment is this awesome cap from BabyPop. I was going to try and recover it, but found that someone had glued everything together. So I tried dyeing the velvet. I put some fabric dye and water in to a spray bottle and went to town. I'm pretty happy with it so far, at least now it won't clash with the room where I want to put it. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349089705895595842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGFSkS2yQReBTqCE59IW7NjOt_1wOyR4HAryhFzIkrFpsVp9Iq8EnmvgGU3-tpnj0IIINflejLn-PWDWVN8_DZXrqQW1tLktYqQmJ1720EyPVNGSjkYfIsbLsfJj6LEEIy2_D0yswhsvk/s320/102_0051.jpg" border="0" />Now I need your opinion. I started drybrushing the metal pieces. Do you like this finish? Or do you think it needs a solid coat of paint? <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349089719429868978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0pU7EfABOdos0lJ3mmKBs3fxX6Z8G-YkvtozIl0rFmsvjnmD2uHCeNh7AplCraG-6T4IBshqzkBFk5XV_NEMF89YyUM3ZNz6SIErV-qCM74i0f-NUNGUjyLKjEWQXDkCWxl8UMcdhTUc/s320/102_0055.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349089711641895682" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrDuG9ogIcaGUgRhzrMyNHdbYIBZ0GvwVmminv1c6Vq9eB-JeR2L62rxdM1VHzO-alKfmOBEn_pfr0KIOgLYtYiYXVYdYLfL8nCAYljY2mRGMXJDCZliLyQFRv36kzR7LiTd0z2aILBho/s320/102_0054.jpg" border="0" /><br />I didn't get my cloche finished to my liking, but check out <a href="http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/">Marty's Awesome Cloche Party</a> for some real beauties....<a href="http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349092370448319778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1WP2lzOvPhvsFojfHbK27nuwUjPje82-8QLN7UdIhwsq-zYWA3J5PJKHDy2pMUZ4YIexavhOSBpJ7D_K1weKPFTwZ-qp9g6AF45hyphenhyphen3DquRAtNITshAOzuBKvPz8QIQw-ISkgUxyp2tEk/s320/LargeLogo.jpg" border="0" /></a>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-83170699679518596812009-06-18T06:21:00.000-07:002009-06-18T07:18:12.687-07:00Junk Party<div align="center"><a href="http://www.menmyhouseblog.blogspot.com/"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348669796694610834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKlo5zomy7dh7EAZkTv4ywDqV7eqwHPRdfkttOWQu6I8DRcfpGEQnoCPCbAXkASlVmcAfyVgxjiSQ5pOX0irywYLnNfP25PhdAd5xcLCmgvJR2k2N1UNXvFMnYMBzfHbNhNgk7TbHLCu8/s320/3618071362_0128e4d426.jpg" border="0" /></a> Me & My House is hosting a cool junk party so that everyone can share their junk. I reached in to pick a tomato that was close to the ground and WHAP I felt something slap my hand. I yanked it back and then I heard the rattle. If you've ever heard that eerie sound, you'll never forget it. I was lucky and didn't get bit, but it scared me enough to not have any interest in a garden for a long time. </div><br /><div>This year I decided it was time for another garden, so I fenced it in planted everything in slightly raised beds. I was getting worried because it looked so skimpy when I planted it. And then it seemed like overnight, WHAM, I had a jungle. I take a cane with me to poke and shake the plants to scare off any snakes. I have learned my lesson. I've really enjoyed it, especially eating the fresh veggies.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347985560342287618" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX9-e_dJyiTB4v-xGRP3wFYyHyuXZfVhlp1swzZvJ5RIrUQ4iotMfKVrSrMlTQb6CkawBznsfTtxYUdefUTgaiLE8b7lWfa4_STFYPrvFCpxxKu7a-g4fZHm-bvC-X5SIWnC5yUi8klu8/s320/100_0133.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347985555937234514" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl2iHAPgc7FPjFKd14c24tAVWsfPS7DnrPcXUUi4mCx5OunDOviN98778AScaVKjmLnLDuwwWlFvpaFTigNLPJtH8l4Y1mnCspfadyA5CIbqnrBdDR4NPwYuT-kPyyeEmXh4G3NsuXecc/s320/100_0233.jpg" border="0" /></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p>I planted some of those giant sunflower from a packet of seeds. At my first stop I came across this bench. I'm going to use it at the base of my bed. It's going to get a few makeover touches before it moves in though. The material looked to be in excellent shape, but after I got it home I discovered some torn spots. That is when we got a group together to purchase tickets for the musical Wicked. Long story short, if you have a group you get the second shot for tickets. Season ticket holders get the first shot. So we got 26 people together. Six of us landed in the front row! Wow! It was outstanding. None of us could get over how much emotion they put into their roles, and we were so glad we were close enough to really see it. Elphaba's voice was spectacular, and Glenda's comedic timing was spot on. She had everyone rolling in their seats.</div><div> </div><div>If you're not familiar with Wicked, it's billed as the untold story of the Witches of OZ. It puts a great spin on the Wizard of OZ. The writing, music, costumes, and sets are all great. I can't wait to see it again! I found this pics online to give you a small glimpse into OZ...<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347545798819432770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiToRBviaNuuBy7GF94GvMuvgpaoVtuvVPAOfudfZaaFrU_NScpWf_glGSSAixDdaFddlO7N6tBgYncFgzfJWx2t1WiwmLB6pstWZ7mJBWZ-Kcr5AaNgfbMlrmDNE254k8_cRzJj49L6GE/s320/wicked3.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347545804213703730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 225px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI4niILtM9qwuOz6-J0WhAAucRqZoy-v8B350Bdp4wO40DRnSMYm_-VccZp9-4DkQBS8AIRmqwZpE0EIDJlZqZGM_BEG3kyFoiXaKrkRZL3X_fdOgzG13XvmL2vCY2-dHQp7Gabo1x9-4/s320/wicked.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5347545806377498482" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 235px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 235px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj17tE1cHyvMLA0wrfR7xlk_Q86ukX-DNdmReszrzzVelNUGtSjgAtNlPzn3LSCbJo4b5v9341Ei9cc1IT1-Pz1pcE-wCUHP8y6pkSlsg0Dc2HJiVroSLigzIBYzGyU5FEYWqliFjfv5g8/s320/untitled.bmp" border="0" /></div></div></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-65684693512138924032009-06-11T06:25:00.000-07:002009-06-11T06:38:32.579-07:00Baseball stuff...<div align="center"><br />My cousin asked if I would do a couple of pieces for her to put in the nursery they are fixing up for their new baby. We were lucky enough to get tickets to the opening of it this past weekend to see Leann Womack, Blake Shelton, Reba McIntyre, and George Strait. The nosebleed section was three floors down from our seats. We were pretty sure our seats where just below Heaven itself. I try not to be scared, but it doesn't work. So I made it to my seat, sat down for about 3 minutes, and decided there was no way I could sit there all night. That place is so big, it felt like I was sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon. So I made it back down to the main level, which is probably still 2 or 3 stories from the floor level. Luckily that level was made for people to stand up and watch. There where even drink holders behing the last row of seats.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345073721790467010" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEbVgPmYzeBf24I7-w7QQnhwXVHQ9RGmirqFjm3Erkms9KrugjtX12pq4t_xTtX08teB3FIiKJDJzWSA7X8jfJVR5pwjDNWvAvO-TrnSqw7n1aru1mblmQgRaGe02w6uQR7qcYsUcEddg/s320/100_0148.jpg" border="0" />So after 60,188 other fans found their seats...<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345073729171342082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJqJb4cowVqKg7A1ZH_qkozFjndQ-Ms7C3f4jXge4ZZtBRzyDWzJ5r3RU0g9K-1q9touwXKSUq9kmUTn9HoBO2Y0h5slueU32eJ6QldQSDZyP72AFl5Px2UHW_Ru-NWtF9NAK4wrklPcg/s320/100_0161.jpg" border="0" /></div><p align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345073733803911426" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieNLWDb-GdNC1Hj38QcC8Dw0woFtAerwki1hZ63OKwroxwPZ2CQ1xC7exQmS5AFI7yixGXVOAJyAzOKBAj1iHUNDUxrkm7ceL7pRtCqlyQR2wSQljKVTtopmjIL-JYp9g0CVlbCQPykYU/s320/100_0164.jpg" border="0" />We enjoyed an awesome show by....</p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345075370092993938" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpo7BPnbJ8e_BXVez3HeWRs0hXyLL3jVwQdzmaycNypg8Su99xGDezK6hMlTSRPn8LF01pmIYYuE0qK6kHcXMOs45JpB97j_iptQCr0lofUkehLJP5ZFFPFBnTrw0vWrFGUP6acaFfMio/s320/100_0153.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center">LeAnn Womack<br /><br /></p><p align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345075373806047922" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDDSGDhUgDZtCXgt6JfCcsH-vzjPpkGXiisr7Zi3CutTbGkOw4ad-wX8ezwdpoc2DIy0p8CHJkwMFYD194yue79iao-Tw-i_QY541Ln_mBHwPcx3PrF3YMKQXV-QP1GprRHeQzvoZQKU8/s320/100_0170.jpg" border="0" />Blake Shelton<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345076473132032946" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMPMeC6NezpjForqhiwtZZGwvWu8rUcHjUt7kzGGJb_cbs4mtca5YWL_TBFmtguTUTkDk8OkxXlR7CyPUSE1ng8VyKxx11XDPyBKkOe5T4TtfKpRx_M7n_Nv3-BCxbeAJpsSxl7E4HDGw/s320/100_0184.jpg" border="0" /></p><p align="center">My favorite.... This wall in my living room was always a problem because it had the thermostat and the air return vent smack dab in the center, and happens to also be smack dab in the center of my living room. So when I found this fireplace shell in a thriftstore I knew my problem was solved. The shelf above it lets me camoflauge the thermostat. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj882wxWe9LuNT-K2LRlr3phMfRJUUZ7IuiTcNAOfvOxgjBeab9ppSpAsj6HqY5ID0KCFginXiovtpUUFMEL0Wksl7mV0MxxCAI0v1cQv3Ni0nxNBhaDCE8ExjDdPYXT4eUry4ISxS0HBA/s1600-h/100_0136.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 248px; HEIGHT: 349px" height="365" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj882wxWe9LuNT-K2LRlr3phMfRJUUZ7IuiTcNAOfvOxgjBeab9ppSpAsj6HqY5ID0KCFginXiovtpUUFMEL0Wksl7mV0MxxCAI0v1cQv3Ni0nxNBhaDCE8ExjDdPYXT4eUry4ISxS0HBA/s320/100_0136.jpg" width="297" border="0" /></a></div><br /><div style="CLEAR: both; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; BORDER-TOP: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; BACKGROUND: 0% 50%; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; BORDER-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; BORDER-BOTTOM: 0px; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial" alt="Posted by Picasa" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-4885148764596299972009-05-26T08:04:00.000-07:002009-05-26T14:54:59.122-07:00A Good Long WeekendWell first off, we pulled of the surprise part of the party. My favorite aunt and cousins came into town early and we all went out to eat and do some shopping. Mom never suspected a thing, because that's what we do when we get together. We eat and we shop. I thought it would be hard to kill almost 3 hours after we ate but time flew by. My mom later said she wondered why my aunt looked at every single shirt in Cato's. It was fun visiting with family and friends.<br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEyysmsK9lVraPrRkpCHGDhfLIWIitR3zlMZcSU4icCMnTjG68_rL_mLeqN8u42KaqHDI0wnROWS17idMoHvBGJ1Q_4lMhUIvWVe-5wLPwmJPNJERBHvqI1MyLqDV2CcTGje_Nu61JdXM/s1600-h/100_0072.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEyysmsK9lVraPrRkpCHGDhfLIWIitR3zlMZcSU4icCMnTjG68_rL_mLeqN8u42KaqHDI0wnROWS17idMoHvBGJ1Q_4lMhUIvWVe-5wLPwmJPNJERBHvqI1MyLqDV2CcTGje_Nu61JdXM/s320/100_0072.jpg" border="0" /></a></p>I've had some construction going on at my house and they are finally finished. I had a porch added and a small laundry room built. Being the do-it-herself-er that I am, I told the contracter that I would paint the porch and finish the inside of the washroom. After working in the heat a little bit yesterday, I questioned my decision a little. Taking a break from filling in all nail holes, I watched this two little ones. They were having quite a discussion. They are mud swallows. They eat mosquitos, so we always welcome them with open arms.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340157786623947394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGjZ0CGIAsn9zuFlSAAopXs2dPquXUBDY8CkCDSZ751VI1kqBGKv4-AQ24tdGOoAa31XG4rDO5ztxgrzpypxPcfx_GotOjwkRmf4zkCeM3o3YiY9JAwNF7VHArjCrY1awfhEf5Q5br2bk/s320/100_0091.jpg" border="0" /> So here is an inside shot of the little room that is very unfinished. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhecPY23vsXd9PONgdBtagcy_ltMpntlEhhDgx2jws_f3_b8WXXk4zIfWZTAzgMBK0_RiI0BVgmwj3c_JYIh1ZcEsZA5IFb81zyNG7yu0Esqrj6WcSaiyEBJbvt4kheb1M3TgPTtSesNks/s1600-h/100_0077.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhecPY23vsXd9PONgdBtagcy_ltMpntlEhhDgx2jws_f3_b8WXXk4zIfWZTAzgMBK0_RiI0BVgmwj3c_JYIh1ZcEsZA5IFb81zyNG7yu0Esqrj6WcSaiyEBJbvt4kheb1M3TgPTtSesNks/s320/100_0077.jpg" border="0" /></a></p><p align="center">My first experiment was to paint the tar paper that is showing on the inside. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that it's at her house. Her friends love to do this to her, because she has the perfect party pad. So I have been trying to get both of our places ready. She just thinks that I'm being super nice for mowing her yard, and such. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337541970383365202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 193px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnVd9IvO_XWFqtQaRjIlSWDVyTjkLwazVu02BdIWhgpwhmaywtQbDIpuhFuYd3WmOOsrMgHuO9zu2AU5ghlvJNSthKKhR1HcBddv78aytz1M_Mmym9Wvwp7Y1chU_uI9wa4MieODDeJ_c/s320/100_0064.jpg" border="0" />I've been rearranging furniture in my house like crazy. Since it's a small house there isn't that many ways to try. I don't have pics of all of it yet, but I did get some of the church pew that I moved into my dining room. I used to have it in the living room, but it was way too crowded. It fit nicely on this wall. I finally got to hang the last of my Canton purchases over it.<br /><div align="center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337541979759950498" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE-fk4fFyQr_101uQw_aZ3jPkXTIndCFkrVwKEv0F-EEB4hrqLLGhgWCOn-aCM8zZE4JhSYVJXli4lwQ5sGbxrDggiGo7ud1GEjHJZCaE1owxng606fVpO1mxdcRQITdjemrbuV563GXE/s320/100_0066.jpg" border="0" /></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">I did get one small project finished. After college I got more serious about my crafts and took some decorative painting classes and started doing craft shows. My brother went to the Art Institute in Houston for awhile and studied Graphic Design. He now is very successful and lives in California. He isn't in the art field anymore but his girlfriend has got him dabbling in painting again. So for Christmas I asked him to paint me a picture. I discribed a painting I had see but couldn't afford, and was anxious to see his version of it. The other thing about him you should know, is he loves to torment me. So he comes home with two blank canvas' and some paint. He said he'd get me started, but I'd have to finish it. Arggg, I was frustated. I like to have patterns, instructions, or at least some guidance.<br /><br />I forgot to take before pics of both of the canvas'. What he left me with is the above pic. It was really pretty but too bold of colors for the room I wanted it in. So these canvas' sat in my Mom's guest bedroom for 5 months until last night when I got brave and jumped in to do my part.<br /><br />So I started toning it down with some turquoise, my new favorite color.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5mCxalS6rMroblz31w6ivgzSguiKX6-yoQ83JMdVxTQYj7ygnjhw1dAlZ78R9LlE_lVBGA5NenQ9jFbch3Drai5U11q4yPY8HYzDjomwZ8xxHloYAr7qzqjSXeMwR5EXJsSFNAYZuBJM/s1600-h/100_0007.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5mCxalS6rMroblz31w6ivgzSguiKX6-yoQ83JMdVxTQYj7ygnjhw1dAlZ78R9LlE_lVBGA5NenQ9jFbch3Drai5U11q4yPY8HYzDjomwZ8xxHloYAr7qzqjSXeMwR5EXJsSFNAYZuBJM/s320/100_0007.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Then I added some clouds, and the silhouettes of two scissortail swallows sitting on a line. I have a real life pair of these birds that live in tree in my front yard every summer. I love to watch them fly and swoop around after insects. I'm really happy with it, and I'll admit that I'm happy it has a little of him and a little of me.</div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFXupS_JG-mvWyEvvrxQ6CV6dxCfqeJBwTm1UJ7EGW8lrFl-YbzNgZdICTXo6cgqSmGYID8PosFTZZFGX29kwjgzT_xEID2bPO_IGaj6GcvTapc8BKc34rrJeDmmHaAwbYKgS3vjWtZEE/s1600-h/100_0013.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFXupS_JG-mvWyEvvrxQ6CV6dxCfqeJBwTm1UJ7EGW8lrFl-YbzNgZdICTXo6cgqSmGYID8PosFTZZFGX29kwjgzT_xEID2bPO_IGaj6GcvTapc8BKc34rrJeDmmHaAwbYKgS3vjWtZEE/s320/100_0013.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIuznrRYfS_vCK8BdL7G2khAJFHtL-ISX3rjRIiwRfMwTodxIqT3LK_dHiLT23zP36FdQsEm9CMaXpZ79Fcmikq2p1qT-2OVkHHdBqKvQP7KmBIrmZzqcHEMee8mftmZbujmVRTCWBvFU/s1600-h/100_0015.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIuznrRYfS_vCK8BdL7G2khAJFHtL-ISX3rjRIiwRfMwTodxIqT3LK_dHiLT23zP36FdQsEm9CMaXpZ79Fcmikq2p1qT-2OVkHHdBqKvQP7KmBIrmZzqcHEMee8mftmZbujmVRTCWBvFU/s320/100_0015.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><div style='clear:both; text-align:CENTER'><a href='http://picasa.google.com/blogger/' target='ext'><img src='http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif' alt='Posted by Picasa' style='border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;' align='middle' border='0' /></a></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-74757652887996798812009-05-01T06:59:00.000-07:002009-05-08T07:50:21.784-07:00<div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8UUN_1s9PPvSu9hS6D0OvP_USlRtMl-0YeA82Ze98Fzf8-LxV7_F-QxyEnk31_r98QNg3Ox7guxVKE2sapY8L7JzSEWxtaGQ1bqcWMV7gufYcBjVvHS-5aHFrKiLpXI1_OGagTRB1bQ/s1600-h/101_0283.jpg"><img alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8UUN_1s9PPvSu9hS6D0OvP_USlRtMl-0YeA82Ze98Fzf8-LxV7_F-QxyEnk31_r98QNg3Ox7guxVKE2sapY8L7JzSEWxtaGQ1bqcWMV7gufYcBjVvHS-5aHFrKiLpXI1_OGagTRB1bQ/s320/101_0283.jpg" border="0" /></a> </div><p><br />I thought I'd share a small project I just finished up last night. Sorry I forgot to take before pics. This frame started out being very modern with metal edges. I decoupaged some scrapbook paper on top of them. I painted two of the glass with chalkboard paint, and replaced the other two with some cork tiles I found at the Dollar Tree. I painted the cork black and waalaah, a new desktop message center. I still need to make some cute pushpins for it. </p><p>I just found <a href="http://chrissiegrace.blogspot.com/2009/05/chalkboard-paint-party-whoo-hoo.html">Chrissie Grace's Chalkboard paint party</a>! My poor plants have seen it all this spring. We have been going through a drought, so they haven't got nearly enough water. At times I think I'm back in Lubbock because the wind seems to blow nonstop. We even had a pretty bad hail storm (that was pretty rough on my car, but that's another story). On top of that, our neighbors pet deer seem to like us better and have started living at our house (that's another story too.) I usually have a whole bed of larkspurs blooming, but between Peanut the deer and the bunny rabbits, I have none. Peanut also ate my Hibiscus, which I was not happy about. Luckily I still have a few plants that are thriving despite the mother nature and the wild life....</div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>Esperanza's (Tecoma stans) do very well in our area. </div><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329820120845050306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 302px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVHQEtLb2gFSqguFe31fzr1PhLZBS6sUc20x1Krbk9-XnbTJUsguz9lfV34sK8j-bmNZWRibpfEjHTldlzUu5GAkoIlMghW76NqYTe_HaPmO_rbSflOezYPdJsjwGFLlZTu_avVVgWM9w/s320/101_0258.JPG" border="0" />It gets really hot in the summers on my front porch so I've resulted to collecting cactus and succulants.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329820125217522290" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIgngND7Rno0iW1nNkUOJTQY3mxYZCq1gb9ebGZVIHMxQaQ3phr9Xb6Lm_JND-azWjeDjrwv91Q9SSM641rI7wNMfFUC_yltxPjKuG0B9LWG937s4PeNA2Xp5vcgPBOEyMjfUcdT4CKGk/s320/101_0264.JPG" border="0" /> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329826330548081810" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtRU7FkYWPjfhjtVJFKqyLxkFY0ylSKIYbjY8S1ZOp-WpnqzgYNXC5h0Nlix89RpXAFXEnOHqMIX1lHzeRF3kMToRJzJT9pDeG7i10PbzWQb1Gm-tMN02B1wKJAOnh_khBgsgwZzDjW90/s320/101_0266.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329820129391267314" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs2COON8tBdZy5rJ47cOI5dU-nEn2wK00k_TwYp8wwYBDP-yUUHA2o3h2BMbMhCfn4OlnbrlIdsORa_Qx0dVpvOf_UnQKA45Rko248uIIjabYOUIKUwb7ctlL4yzT41A6EaF08b3jOBMg/s320/101_0267.JPG" border="0" />The hail storm also did a number on my garden, but everything survived. I have it fenced off so that Peanut and the bunnies can only lick their lips and drool over my fresh veggies. We got to eat our first batch of lettuce this weekend. The funny thing about me is that I'm not much of a veggie lover, but I love to grow them. I'm growing tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, peas, cucumbers, peppers, bell peppers, and squash. Here's a pic of my little bed of lettuce. It's the first time I've grown it, and I have to say it was pretty good.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5329820117831716962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI-bziy6Ll-NtQcLygLvnaxGXiX524CqL6kZ7iTgf8qZWdJmhjqDtm532hht-el2FnY8biADmB6oNYmKewOnKjc_RQREsRp5brGmBcA_p2N5Zuxn7zO9q3dpPhCpSqbS_QKS1ddaofS_A/s320/101_0278.JPG" border="0" /></div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Visit <a href="http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/2009/04/429-outdoor-wednesday-16.html">A Southern Daydreamer</a> for more Outdoor Wednesday posts...</div><br /><div></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-4769528964417875132009-04-21T08:25:00.000-07:002009-04-21T08:54:53.957-07:00Fun Weekend...We took off Friday and headed north to stay in Arlington with my cousin, and Saturday we joined up with a ton of crazy Parrot Heads to tailgate before going to the Jimmy Buffet concert at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. If you've never been to or seen the tailgating of Buffet fans, its a riot. This was our fourth year to go, and we decided to dress the part this year.... So I here we are sporting our beautiful bikini clad bods, errr tshirts....<br /><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327169046197168530" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFjMH_Td1716116tuH2rpzKxLYcURARJ3uZqYRDRYyBiBXfcrC5PCJ6djiueAQCazwwRmIxkfSPpC_fNjWGR4yMZOrZRS1Cx2DlRArCb2XW2ogHKiAU0iPgkifSWMAO3JMdb-9R83fbtE/s320/IMG_0667.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>Had to get a shot of our cute rear view....</div><div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327169047829110690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV1hLjvt2-SUmOwsVu5p5-7r3cm9anR3BE3KXZikGoP2U49TsplvEqNaCi83vgBzFzjTRpz-PsckIMhTE0mPG88BCuo-KiD56FyGpmG3htkZy_b8UuCv80ViU6tCGCBpE-8X1D1WBn2ac/s320/IMG_0666.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327169054791261442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 318px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk_sGanMvpDG7jaPUAwfY3WOX1gyw5gRLGbxp7Q1AJ8QoALJsc499u4GmMXxhrii8KnaFqCz1a1GGBfGWna0g1gvT9b4zjXdClG1MfS8BflFzkTGn6x-i4uX1DvaBm6gq9OW29b7-Yhac/s320/IMG_0671.jpg" border="0" /></div><div><br />We weren't the only crazies out there. I LOVE of old battered quilts, and I always think what if these quilts could talk. Just imagine. The amount of time it took for them to be hand stitched, and then the amount of use it took to become this thread bare and torn is just amazing. Think of all the stories that they've heard and the history they've experienced. </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324557314779500802" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig4NGzFz_U9UGxKN3u_1TQWd_XlYNukpnUP3Qu-RgzcnoYzIahPY2yNZVjhT4UT9HoMrK3bILQvNklXie5_BvXbhFlDbSF44Lcp9N2l9ATDf_05czCRvxtvk3L1uf6JbPqTpiVHdWCeUw/s320/100_1649.jpg" border="0" /></div><div>This weekend I found one at a market days in Bandera, Tx. I took it up to a little old lady that was selling it to ask the price. She told me that she wasn't good at pricing so just tell her what it was worth to me. It caught me off guard, because quilts are priceless to me. So I named my price, and she immediately asked, "Why?" This stumped me too, so I explained that I use the tattered quilts to make Teddy Bears and that's all I could offer. I thought I'd upset her, but she was tickled with my plans, and went on to tell me she was a quilter and would be happy to sell it to me. </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324557318934221554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 237px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWd1vlTVUKaKwoprpUz-0wPRB2DICzuyp1XzXZhLMbyRP7jq137Z4KLJmglUj_JYa2WfGKYd_WqA5Ee-eMVpOv4qyJVgwRcAoBRSTmD_gkhGPWonwNbUWD50BROADfw3CAwCbV1GlXZ5c/s320/101_0128.jpg" border="0" /></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>So hopefully I'm doing my part to help these time pieces live on. I only use quilts that are too worn or stained to be used anymore. Here are a couple that I have finished. The sweet purple and pink quilt had inks stains in several places and tears in others. The white one is from an old chenille bedspread.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5324557320893927842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK8nt8whV-tQzfM9oPFq41PnEh2AQT3ICufmmIyRrRw5-9SjRzRl8Wnf5HA5rN0HduUvB-5jr_UihQMwU_qkwygMDbhVNdxRAAXawuzKMR-2a7NSb_x5lH20cuit3Bz5-6vuiZc_UV57E/s320/101_0162.jpg" border="0" /></div><br />Check out other cool posts at ReInvented's <a href="http://http//www.reinventedkb.com/">Trash to Treasure Party</a>.Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-39057807358326545192009-03-31T10:30:00.001-07:002009-03-31T11:16:18.423-07:00Time Flies...I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted anything. Several things have been a contributor to my absence. First I'll blame the Twilight books. I am now finished with all of them, and kinda sad that I am. I really really enjoyed them. Second I've been workind outside in the yard and garden alot trying to get everything planted and trimmed. A lot of work but nothing picture worthy yet. I just finished a couple of projects I thought I'd share..... <div><div><div><div><div><br /><div>I put down laminate wood floors in my craft room, and I love them so far. They were fairly easily to install once I got them started. My cat loves them more than I do, and I have no idea why. He is always sprawled out on it. Avery pefers to be pampered with his pillow and rug.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319409021533721794" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0RphXc2PkffHKVe5OVhLppoofAkS8YqKVDqXnBabrNkJ0L00FH5-epufZy_gnvcQYBnDcOnDuMGiNc2U0-QhohfoU4fkWm7YE5oTCiGaufvaq3aXEN7x6g0vKcqfXjsba2tuGC_v1juo/s320/101_0249.jpg" border="0" /></div><br /><div>Speaking of animals, last night I babysitted my Mom's pomeranian, Bella (she was named before I started reading Twilight). I sat down to paint and she hopped onto my lap and the next thing I knew she was laying on the table on top of all my stuff. She thought that's where she belonged. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319409028591709282" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhj4Q3BfLLWen-Xfc2aKDU33DVTYWPPS3aogA2yU1k9vlaUYg1QP6batLp4X4VLU8NAHaevJeo6oJtjXwkPm2Loaq9VXkxen6QPvgxXyFGQhJzcz8kKjoa7Yl-v0XyWSWneAerC3RLZof8/s320/101_0247.jpg" border="0" /></div><br /><div>Actually I don't blame her, since my cat still thinks she's an oversized rat and tends to stalk her whenever she comes over.</div><br /><div>On to a couple of projects. I've been playing around with my Cricut vinyl cutter and with embossing my own metal tiles. I combined the two for a house warming gift for my cousin. </div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319409028778706562" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 144px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_w5FwzFvhmziQ_0AUZzz_7RbzAvM6q6DXeMs3P6sEsN0TYIMMcOAiRN5dhft7ztqJUDuvV-NTv1dZwr1BFmjFoDM1aWuCO9iorgYlpyK5LkJehf-IuTBuif3pcY4pdHzDw1iSwvFkQRs/s320/100_1632.jpg" border="0" /></div><br /><div>I've been working on some picture frames to sell at my shows in the fall, and these are the first two I've finished. I painted the letting on them and then lightly sanded it to look worn. I'm having a long of fun making these....</div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319412449562088178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 191px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjxQwiKevwNf-3DpFlqQcNBjZdQoLnTzul6Mv6DyeZKEDgR0KmX-r8uV0i-fIh1vAwYXqwBCYadZartBEOY0brKB5F6uPBsctQXhcNhatcSKxJixdlVynAEHYlgzCoCFoJmg20oDunfhA/s320/100_1617.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5319409041031926770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 220px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB4jlm9rSJqxW5wwpMpsWqQQ0T1xi961WRGrEfOdrUEFM3PiES_f_rJQjGtHSHLhIG0e9eqjyUOd8SJr64HsIr5_ZleWYE6AnZHgRlwa5efxcoexr4oqagzoSsRtcw10C4rJMeT0aqh34/s320/100_1616.jpg" border="0" /></div></div></div></div></div></div>Stephhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00291501757947962973noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191759948080413135.post-14575839723498300732009-02-20T10:42:00.000-08:002009-02-20T11:14:20.006-08:00Hooked on Bead Board<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>I am more hooked on bead board than I realized.
